Favorite Recipes from the Land of 10,000 Lakes

"Crisp autumn days bring our thoughts to orchard visits and baking something lovely. Buttery pastry filled with sweet apples, smoked Gouda, and a hint of cayenne is just right for when the leaves turn color."
-from page 22

"This savory bread pudding takes the idea of traditional bread stuffing to a whole new level. The feel-good addition of greens makes it a righteous accompaniment for any holiday meal when feeding a crowd. You'll crave leftovers; it reheats beautifully for a post-holiday breakfast served with an egg on top."
-from page 59

"Garrison Keillor sings a ditty about Beebopareebop rhubarb pie, crooning 'one little thing can revive a guy.' Well, this cocktail also has restorative properties, with gin that's distilled near the shores of the great Lake Superior and punctuated with local flavors, including wild berries, sumac, juniper, spruce tips, cedar wood, and even rhubarb. When you infuse this gin with fresh berries and shake it together with rhubarb syrup, you'll be singing the 'Beebopareebop' tune too!"
