Michael spotted a track that was different than the others he had seen. "It looks like the coyote track, but it has more toes, and there�s an extra mark in back," Michael said.

"That extra pad gives it away," said Dad. "It tells you that you are looking at a ringtail track."

Emily's eyes lit up. "Ringtails are cool! I love those big eyes. Do you think we'll see one?"

"I doubt it," replied Mom. "Ringtails are nocturnal, which means they sleep during the day and come out at night."
